All is quiet and I was just relaxing with some tea, contemplating things. I have been thinking about life lately and realized I am on a journey right now. Of course, life is a journey in itself, but I am definitely looking for some answers.
Echardt Tolle's book A New Earth made me take a serious look at my spiritual self, it's challenged me in a huge way. I am reading it for the third time...and watching the webinars online with Oprah www.oprah.com I would highly recommend it if you are ready to be awakened spiritually.
If you have been reading snickerdoodles for a bit you know I am on a mission to organize my life right now. For weeks I have been going through areas in our house a little at a time. It starts with emptying everything...clearing closets, files, boxes, drawers, and cupboards. I decide if that's the best place to continue storing it...and as I repack, rehang etc. I purge anything that hasn't been of use or that I don't love/need. It is soo hard sometimes, I struggle with letting go of stuff... Today I found some great tips on a blog that I love... find it here It's part of the Carrie and Danielle webpage. It's their June 2nd post under Home+Stuff. They pull out 5 main tips from a book about clutter that are very insightful. The book is called It’s All Too Much“ by Peter Walsh...his tips will help change your mindset about stuff and things and your life space. I am printing them out and hanging them on my fridge until I finish my mission!
So...as I clean and clear and de-clutter I am making space to find me! The "me" that has been put aside to work, to Mommyhood, marriage, and life in general. I am so excited to learn about me so I can be better at all my roles, and like I said in my first post...to follow my bliss! My next step is to work with Carrie and Danielle to find my style statement...

Nothing is more liberating than a good declutter and cleanse. I was a "wanna a be" organized person a few years ago and have almost conquered my disoeder! The book that really helped me stay organized was More Hours in My Day by Emily Barnes. I have tried many methods but this book made a lasting difference. Oh that and my wonderful sister who organzied my kid clutter and saved my life last summer! Thanks for all the inspiration...Shannon

Thanks for your advice Shannon. I will look for that book at the library for sure. Wish Melissa would come here too! LOL It's kinda neverending with kids, isn't it?

Hey! Thanks for writing about us! I too am slightly pathological in my need for order and simplicity and so I've read countless books on the subject. This one was different though. It resonates with Carrie & Danielle's philosophy, which is: imagine your ideal - and go from there. It really isn't about the stuff. It's about how you want to live, and with that as your guide, you'll get there. He cautions against going on a "fad diet" of purging, which means it will all come back again - adapt the lifestyle and then you have it. Keep us posted on your progress!
Best,
Karryn
